back pain due to golfing help?
Filed in Golf Talk on Nov.08, 2011
i play golf a lot (every day) and have recently been getting lessons. my coach told me that parts of my golf swing may make my back hurt, so we worked and started doing it the right way. but recently, in the last week or so, i have began to feel pain basically only when i swing a club. i can do everything else fine. im just wondering why this is happening and if there are stretches, drill, etc i can do to relieve it and to prevent it. thanks i appreciate it its really hindering my game as well.

I have had the same problem countless times. You can usually fix this by just relaxing your muscles for about half a week. Many pros also say that golfing too much with back pain caused by golfing can permanently wreck you back if you don’t relax.
( I work on a golf course so I get to spend alot of time with the pros daily)

Pain..where in your back? Upper back region stretch.Lower back region …stretch and pray. Try the DVD of Roger Fredericks Swing flexibility.

The best thing to do is probably to take a week off and relax. Also make sure to stretch your hamstrings good before you start.

the back is a big place do you hurt under the shoulder blades hips i recommend rolling up like a ball on the floor on your back and roll, also lay on a big ball and roll face up. then the next step is to swing smoother and easier. don’t yank, don’t over turn. forget the power surge

Well guy, it sounds like your tensing up to smash the golf ball too hard. Your arms and hands must be loose (not so loose you lose control of the club) and use the shoulders to push the club through the ball. Make certain you do several practice swings before addressing the ball. Take it easy on the swings for a while and use the hips and torso for the power push. This should ease up the back muscles. If not suggest deep breaths before hitting or take a day off or two to allow muscles to relax.

Swing your arms faster and try to hold your body from movement and use your hands and arms. Science shows that the spine can move naturally only 70 degrees, after that PAIN! So More arms less body. don’t worry you wont lose distance, you might gain distance PHYSICS
