How do I start a PGA Golf Career?

I want to begin golfing on the PGA, but would like to start in the New England region. Are there any steps to become a member to play or do i just contact the office?

Contact a local Pro…..They can steer you to the course work that is required. To be a player is a whole other can of beans. There are any number of ways to Play on the tour. Be a high ranking College player….get noticed at Pro ams…..Large amounts of personal cash ( for entry fees and expenses). I’d check with the PGA Tour if this is what you have your heart set on

Work at a local golf course. Be aware that the starting pay for an Assistant Golf Pro sucks. You basically get paid what they do at McDonald’s…it’s paying your dues in a sense…and hoping that one day a Head Golf Pro position opens up some where so then you can start making money you can actually live on.

Start by getting a job at a course somewhere, and practice all you can. When you can readily shoot below 75, sign up at whatever PGA section you live in for your PAT, players ability test. You must shoot their formula for 36 holes on that course. Once you pass the PAT, you can then sign up for your levels of coursework that must be completed. After the course work, you then have interviews with the section board. After all this is done, usually 2-5 years, you can then call yourself a PGA Class A Pro.
Lots of luck, its a love of the game that wil make you stick it out.
