I hit a house at the driving range golfing? Help?
Filed in Golf Talk on Oct.20, 2011
Well our golf course was built before all the houses came up and its not the first time someone has hit a house. Theres a row of houses litterly 5 yards off the driving range. I just so happened to hook one slightly and BANG. It didnt break a window it sounded like it hit a fence or possibly a house. what do I do? This isnt the first time I seen someone hit a house from our range but its the first from me.

If nothing is broken don’t worry about it.

my opinion is to leave it alone and forget about it… if they call the cops or authority just say it was an accident….. most likely they wont if it hit a fence.

I wouldn’t lose any sleep over it!
They knew the risks when buying a house on a golf course….

You have nothing to worry about.
Even if damage had been done to the house, which it doesn’t sound like it was, so long as you were using the driving range in the manner it was intended to be used the home owner could only sue the driving range and not you personally. Furthermore, the homeowner would have to demonstrate that the driving range had not taken reasonable precautions to prevent the house being hit, which I’m sure they have, to successfully sue.
So don’t worry about it at all.

I’ve hit lots of houses and my playing partners have hit plenty,if you did any damage you are responsible. If no one came out I woudn’t worry about it.Play it as it lies.

Most houses and subsequent cars that are on a golf course or near a driving range are protected by the course’s insurance. I lived on a golf course and my neighbors car and house windows were smashed by golf balls, but they were covered by the golf course’s insurance. Don’t sweat it. You’re not the first or last.
