I was about 10 years old and I just remember hitting the ball twenty yards at a time. But I was breaking 40 by age 12 and 70 by age 14. I never trust beginners with their scores. They just cant do it properly or honestly. They say, yeah, I shot 48 the other day but when you play with them, they never get a shot airborne!!
i started at the age of 3 and i got i think in the 70′s or 80′s but hey i was 3 so i didn’t know how to hit. now i’m starting to get even or maybe +1 on the front 9 but i practice almost everyday. i shoot about a 77 but it’s going down. always gotta improve
Oh, how can I forget. I shot 82 (145 for the entire 18 hole). It was my very first time playing on a real course and it was at Pebble Beach with my father-in-law. He drove the cart, I walked most of the fairways carrying a 7 and 8 iron cuz the ball was almost always closer than the cart. The only saving grace was the putting.
Mid 60′s somewhere I think. The worst 18 that I remember ever getting, when I was about 10 and starting, was a 128.
Of course, when you are playing at that level, full respect of the rules may fall to the wayside. I am not sure I actually hit everything from where it ended up, for example, or whether I took all the strokes I should have for going in the water or hit my next shot from the place one really should have.
It was a long time ago, and it was for fun, so I doubt very much my score was really accurate. When I play with my kid now, I let him hit from the hole side of the hazard if he plunks one in the water. No point in putting 5 in a row into the water, after all.
