Should I wear my golf shoes of the course? Do people normally bring a change of shoes?
Filed in Golf Talk on Nov.10, 2011
I’m going golfing with my boss tomorrow for the first time. I am not sure when I should wear my golf shoes. Should they be worn only on the grass or can I wear them throughout? Should I change before and after playing?
Thanks for your help!

You can wear them throughout. Change into them in the locker room (if you go to one), or once you get out of the car if you don’t.

At a private club you change your shoes in the locker room, not in the parking lot.
if its a public course the etiquette is a little more relaxed…take your cues from what others around you are doing

Good private clubs won’t let you into the clubhouse with golf shoes so take and wear normal shoes to be on safe side might be a long walk back to the car when your thirsty for a drink in the clubhouse afterwards, when you get there scan to see if there is a locker room change. If its a public course change in car because if you leave your shoes anywhere else they’ll probably get stolen.
