What happens if an animal steals your golf ball while playing?
Filed in Golf Talk on Nov.12, 2011
I was recently golfing and hit a very good shot that landed on the green. As I was walking to the green, a dog ran up and stole my ball. I did not know what to do, so I put another ball down where the first one landed and played on. Was that right? Should I have given myself a penalty stroke or how do I score it?

stop playing golf and play fetch with the dog

According to the Rules of Golf you were interfered with by an outside agency. Place a ball at the point where your original ball was absconded and proceed. No Penalty.

You did the right thing. Your ball was lost due to something not caused by you. No penalty.
