I would get Ping. They are strong and are great clubs.

New clubs? $450 for everything? Two brands come to mind: Cleveland Golf and Adams. Then you’ll maybe have to spring for a putter (Ping and Odyssey are good) and a bag. $450 is a difficult target to meet for new brand name equipment of _current_ models (you can find good bargains for older models, still new).
Some other excellent brands are Callaway, TaylorMade, Titleist, Cobra, Ping — but they’ll be past your $450 limit, and many by a lot.
Have fun shopping!

On a small budget I would begin with your local club bulletin board, next check out some pawn shops. The name brands are not necessary when your beginning.

personally i like taylormade, but they might be expensive so i would go something like an Adams set, or possibly get some used clubs in mint condition

Adams Idea a3, I reccomend these for most beginners because they are easy to hit,
